WHAT IS MADE BY DESIGN?

Made by Design is a statement of truth.  You are not a random occurrence, wandering through a purposeless existence.  You were created intentionally.  You were birthed with a destiny.  You are made by design, born for such a time as this!

Each person (yes, you!) is unique, a personality woven together with gifts, talents and dreams.  This beautiful tapestry called “you” was then placed inside a body.  7,328,359,112 billion (and increasing), people roam this expanse called earth, and no-one will be quite like you.  Isn’t that incredible?

Rarity is one characteristic that lends value to gemstones.  If we apply the same logic to ourselves, then we must also be incredibly valuable!

After attending a conference in February 2014, I was floored by the realisation that I didn’t value myself, therefore I felt I had no purpose in life.  I am a recovering perfectionist so my ability to focus on the negative is flawless; my self-talk wasn’t at all positive.  I had been trying to alter parts of myself, so I could better fit into my environment.  But this was exhausting, and in some cases, devastating.  And ultimately it wasn’t authentic; I longed to just be me and to have people accept me as I was. 

Over the years, I’ve had many conversations with friends who we wanted to be and were trying to be like someone else.  I could see the qualities that made them amazing but they weren’t able to see them for themselves. 

So this is my prayer for myself and readers of this blog:

• That we as valuable, intentionally created people, would walk through life championing ourselves to greater heights knowing there is One who made us for a specific purpose that only we can achieve;
  

• That we would let the light of who we are shine brightly, never feeling the need to dim it because of others or our environment;
  

• That we would focus on the good in others, that we would refrain from gossip and instead encourage one another daily to be who we were made to be.

Life is a journey of process.  We never fully arrive and sometimes, we need to be reminded of what we’ve already learnt.  I know I certainly do.  So I’m in this not as an expert, but as sometime who is also still in process.
